To be the best we can be
Our vision is to give children
the knowledge and skills
to be successful by
being the best they can be.
Led by Christ, we follow in Jesus’ footsteps, seeking to be
the best we can be.
We learn and grow, we are ready to learn and aim for success.
Together in God’s family, we love and respect
everyone we meet
here at school.
Parent Readers
We have a well established programme in which parents volunteer a small amount of time to read with children from Reception to Year 6. This is an enjoyable experience for both the adult and the child - and it frees up teachers and other adults in school to work with children on other things. We are always ready to welcome a parent (or grandparent) with an hour to spare who would like to support the children in this way.
Training is offered and support is given by our Literacy lead and the programme is organised by staff reading leads who support volunteers. The training includes an introduction to the Phonics programme used in school, 'Read, Write, Inc.'
A DBS is required. DBS forms are available from Mrs Stephan in the school office, and application form guidance can be downloaded here. The DBS application is free for volunteers (normally standard checks cost £26 and enhanced checks cost £44), and takes between 2-4 weeks to process.
